Meet the Horses

Owned by Lyn Kistner, Marty is a Suffolk Punch which is a breed rarely seen in Canada. When Marty isn’t a therapy horse, she and her partner Mickey are working horses and help Lyn with his logging.

Inga is
a very sweet and
loving Norwegian Fjord horse and now belongs to the program
thanks to a generous donation from the Halvorsen family!

Kit is
a super friendly, gentle bay mare who is loaned to the program
by her owner, Michelle.

Salty is
on loan from the Cranbrook Therapeutic Riding Program. He's proving
to be quite the superstar!

Spyder is
a lovable big guy!

Blue is a
thoroughbred, draft horse cross. He is a very steady horse
who works very well for our adult riders. A well trained
mount, he moves reliably well at walk, trot and canter. He
very much appreciates a treat at the end of a lesson.

Gentle Ben
is Sarah's new baby and therapy horse in training. He was
born on April 27th, 2007 and arrived from Vernon in August.
Rest in Peace
Unfortunately, our therapy horses
and ponies can't stay with us forever. We were very lucky to have
these horses and ponies in our program for as long as we did.
They are missed very much.

In Loving Memory of
Patti the Pony
Patti was a small pony that worked with our
younger riders. She was a calm, sturdy and gentle little
girl. Patti passed on to greener pastures on May 4th.
She is missed by everyone who knew her and especially by her
pasture pal, Red.

In Loving Memory of
Rupert
Rupert was
Sarah's horse and he volunteered his services to the program when
needed. Rupert was quite a character and always enjoyed
lots of attention. He was everybody's favourite as he had
such an outgoing personality.

In Loving Memory of
Red
Red was a
larger pony whose former job was as a pack horse. He
enjoyed taking his riders out for trail rides around the
property. Red went to join Patti in the greener pastures
on May 22nd. He is missed by everyone.
